Howco maybe is not widely known as Fox or Universal, but Howco Productions later Howco International Pictures, was an American film production and distribution company based in South Carolina, specializing in low budget B pictures designed for double features.
Joy N. Houck Sr., owner of 29 Joy Theaters in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, teamed up with producer/director Ron Ormond and J. Francis White, an officer of Consolidated Theaters and owner of 31 cinemas in Virginia, North and South Carolina, to contract with independent film producers to create product for their combined theater chains. Their initials, "H, O, W," provided the name of the company.
I should know, Joy N Houck was my grandfather.

Delores Fuller, a former Wood girlfriend, and costar with Wood in Glen or Glenda who also had parts in two other of his films, Jail Bait and Bride of the Monster, has a small part here. Narrator Lyle Talbot had a small part in Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space.
The story is a kind of The Island of Dr. Moreau, where the creatures are a spider, hot women, and little men. Jackie Coogan plays the doctor part. The relentless, repetitive Spanish style music noted by others appears to have been played by the band from the cantina scene. I kept the volume down. It's a train wreck of a movie, trite, predictable, and thin on plot, but good for a few laughs, or just to wonder at in amazement.
I downloaded the 689MB AVI file. Aside from the greenish tint, the video was fine. The audio was clear.

This movie is so bad it's good. Wow! The music is maddening! I am trying to picture them putting it together and saying, "This sounds great!" The guitar is horrendous and relentless. The voiceover is stilted, the acting is lame, the editing is a disaster. I loved it! Pure fun and prime MST3K material. Just the dancer in the bar is worth it.

When you find a no-budget movie from an unknown studio with two producers and two directors that features Jackie Coogan as a mad scientist (gulp!), you know there's whole lot of shark jumpin' goin' on - but believe it or not in a good way. Not enough? You want more? How about menacing dwarfs? Still not enough? Okay, we'll toss in spiders turned into busty babes who become indestructible café entertainers. No, it's not a comedy, but is unintentionally hilarious, and yet another example of a whacko screenplay, bad acting and awful direction somehow combining to make an entertaining jaw-dropper of a movie. So add this screwball romp to your so-bad-it's-good list. It certainly deserves to be there. CAST NOTE: For those who might not recognize his name, Jackie Coogan was a child star who later became known for playing Uncle Fester in "The Addams Family" TV series.

Crazy script, lousy directing, even from a sometimes decent director, some good acting, tongue in cheek, a lot of lousy acting, poor production materials...
I loved it! Jackie Googan rules. So bad it's good... well, not good, but a must watch.
